If you're one of the 65 million Americans who have a chronic sleep deficiency, this album may be the answer to your prayers. Based on a revolutionary approach to mind-body medicine that orchestrates your innate 'relaxation response,' the key to this music is what you hear-- and what you don't hear-- familiar melodies that engage the mind and subconsciously keep you awake. Restful music only-NO subliminals or brainwave entrainment.
The beautiful, atmospheric compositions feature the soothing tones of the Rhodes electric piano and other keyboards that automatically relax the body and quiet the mind. Within moments, you can feel yourself breathing slower and deeper, as you drift off to sleep at the speed of sound.
For over 37 years, Steven Halpern has set the standard of excellence in the field of functional sound healing. This album is not intended as entertainment. Play it softly in your bedroom, and you're unlikely to hear the end of the recording. We wish you sweet dreams.

Why Most Music Keeps You Up at Night
Most music is composed to entertain and stimulate the emotions. That's great during the day, but at night, it's like drinking three cups of coffee. I call this 'audio caffeine'.
Surprisingly, biofeedback research has proven that what most people assume to be 'soothing music' is not as physiologically effective at reducing stress as they think. In fact, hidden stressors in most music may actually contribute to your inability to fall asleep.
Your brain and body are typically hooked into an unrecognized stress response by unconsciously analyzing the melodic and harmonic patterns built into the music itself. It's natural to try to anticipate where the music is going in the future.
The problem is that 'relaxation only happens in the present, not the future'. When the goal is relaxation and sleep, a more effective choice would be music that makes it easy to be at peace in the present moment. And this is what my music does.
I think you'll enjoy my brief "Scalus Interruptus" video at www.YouTube.com/StevenHalpernMusic which will allow your body to prove it to you. You'll find yourself holding your breath, as your expectations have you 'waiting for the other (musical) shoe to drop.
Your Best Music for Sleep Series
My Music for Sleep series takes the breakthroughs that I've discovered over the past 40 years. Each recording features a unique approach.
SLEEP SOUNDLY adds subliminal affirmations, and has been helping listeners fall asleep successfully since 1980.
SLEEPSCAPE DELTA adds brainwave entrainment technology to gently guide your brain into the delta frequencies associated with sleep.
"YOUR BEST MUSIC FOR SLEEP" features the music itself.
Of course, many of my other albums have helped folks fall asleep for decades, especially CHAKRA SUITE, OCEAN SUITE and GIFTS of the ANGELS.
Additional Suggestions
I concur with many of the other experts who recommend that you remove from your bedroom electronic devices, especially tv, computers, and clocks, both for the blinking lights, humming noises (even when they are off) and electromagnetic fields that interfere with sleep. Blackout curtains are also recommended.
Avoid caffeine and other foods that can keep you awake, especially close to sleep time.
Wishing you sound sleep and sweet dreams,
Steven Halpern
