Steven Halpern's Aural-SyncTM BRAINWAVE ENTRAINMENT series adds sonic entrainment tones to his healing music. The combination amplifies the positive effects of the music alone, and makes it easy to dial in the specific brainwave state you desire.

Our bodies respond to the rhythms of the world around us. "Entrainment' is the term that describes how our heartbeat synchronizes (entrains) to a drumbeat, for instance (measured in beats per minute).

On a more subtle level, our brainwaves entrain to rhythmic stimuli, measured by EEG in beats/cycles per second (cps). The electrical activity of the brain has historically been categorized by most researchers as alpha  8-12 cps, beta (13-39 cps), theta (4-7 cps) and delta (1-3 cps).

I have been involved in researching and producing soundscapes using brainwave entrainment since 1977. I have worked with leading scientists like Itzhak Bentov, Dr. Andrijah Puharich, and IBM senior scientist Dr. Marcel Vogel, and have a track record of proven success going back over 30 years. In 1991, I demonstrated this technology to the 48 HOURS  producers in the recording studio. They were blown away, and we all anticipated the public's response when the segment aired. Alas, I was told it was 'too powerful' and did not make it through the final edit.

My soundscapes are effective when listened to on external speakers, but you'll likely find a deeper level of brainwave entrainment and benefit when listening with headphones.

The use of music to reduce stress and promote relaxation and  sound healing goes back thousands of years, long before David soothed King Saul with his harp. For the past 500 years, however, most music has been composed for entertainment, not healing.
